Pre-Engineering Option
Educating a New Generation of Engineers
An Exciting Pre-Engineering Option in Cooperation with NYU-Poly
Lander College for Women (LCW) is pleased to introduce a pre-engineering option for students. LCW students interested in pursuing careers in any of the engineering fields including electrical, environmental, chemical, civil, mechanical, computer, and biomedical engineering can enroll in pre-engineering option courses at NYU-Polytechnic School of Engineering (NYU-Poly). Enrollment in undergraduate engineering and engineering-related courses at NYU will enable students to take prerequisite engineering courses to allow them to apply to graduate programs in engineering.
Key Features of the Pre-Engineering Initiative
- Students pursue a baccalaureate degree at Touro in an approved major
- Students take engineering courses at NYU-Poly while they pursue a Bachelor's Degree at LCW
- LCW students benefit from an NYU-Poly pre-engineering option advisor
- NYU-Poly facilities and equipment are available to LCW students enrolled in NYU-Poly courses
- LCW students, in consultation with an advisor at LCW, are not limited in the number of pre-engineering credits that may be taken at NYU-Poly
Qualifications for Admittance
- Students must take a minimum of 12 credits at LCW while taking courses at NYU-Poly
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in all math and science courses
- Satisfaction of all prerequisite courses for any course a student would like to take at NYU-Poly
- Recommendation letter to NYU-Poly from dean or assistant dean of LCW
The Pre-Engineering Initiative Includes the Following Courses
- Introduction to Engineering and Design
- Engineering Problem Solving and Programming
- Computer Aided Design
- Fundamentals of Electric Circuits I
- Fundamentals of Electric Circuits II
- Fundamentals of Electronics
