Medical and Dental School Application Process

You'll be applying through AMCAS or ADEA and need to complete and submit AMCAS or ADEA/AADSAS application by the middle of June application by the middle of June. When applying, your personal statement, letters of recommendation and interview prep are important. Here's a rough outline of the process and schedule:

  • Receive and complete secondary applications for individual med schools with no longer than two-week turnaround. (July/August)
  • Confirm with medical and dental schools that your application is complete. (September)
  • Prepare for medical and dental school interviews: Attend our mock interview seminar
  • Keep up with current issues in medicine.
  • Schedule a mock interview with your pre-health adviser.
  • Practice interview questions with friends/family.
  • Attend medical and dental school visits on campus-speak to their students. Review the alumni magazines published by many medical and dental schools.
  • Receive invitations to interview. (August through April)
  • Travel to interviews. (September through March)
  • If you have received any or no interviews by early November, please make an appointment with your prehealth adviser to discuss your application and strategies to gain interview invitations.
  • Be aware of the last date to hold multiple acceptance offers (April 30)
  • If on waiting list(s), keep in touch with medical schools.
  • Register for your first day of medical school!
