Years Two and Three

Meet with the pre-health adviser to discuss your interest in medicine and to discuss your timeline, grades, and activities to ensure what is the correct cycle for you to apply.

  • Continue to participate in service organizations and campus activities.
  • Continue gaining healthcare experience.
  • Continue meeting with faculty. Consider carefully who you should ask for   a recommendation letter.
  • Begin Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) preparation (MCAT calendar). Register for the MCAT. Try to complete MCAT by June
  • Begin DAT preparations if you are interested in dentistry
  • Think about what you might like to do during the summer.
  • Brainstorm and begin a draft of personal statement for AMCAS application (Why medical school?) or ADEA/AADSAS
  • Review Medical School Application and ADEA/AADSAS Process
  • Selecting Medical and Dental Schools
  • Personal Statements
  • The AMCAS and ADEA/ AADSAS Application
  • Generate a list of medical schools to which you would like to apply.
  • Confirm that all letters of recommendation have been sent to your pre-health adviser.
