Student Activities Fair Creates Buzz on Campus
LCW students get involved in the annual college-wide society fair.
The college-wide Student Activities Fair, held for two consecutive days during lunch last week, brought a buzzing excitement to Lander College for Women—The Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School.
The fair, organized by LCW’s Student Government ’15-’16, provided an opportunity for new and returning students to acquaint themselves with the many active societies and teams on campus, including the Society of Accounting Professionals, Drama Society, Biology Society, Torah Learning Club, Investing Society, Political Science Society, Acappella Group, Debate Society, Future Occupational Therapists of America, Future Physical Therapists of America, Marketing Society, Poetry Society, LCW’s Track team, LCW’s Basketball team, Pre-Dental Society, Pre-Med Society, Mathematics Society, and more.
The leaders of each society—which ran the gamut of professional tracks and passions—used a variety of creative techniques to recruit fellow students. The Marketing Society designed their own QR code. Mathematics representatives displayed humorous math puns. Israel Advocacy and Pre-Health leaders donned various accoutrements to attract interest. Sign-up sheets filled quickly as each society discussed its vision with prospective participants.
Student Government Treasurer Jodi Basch, ’16, said this is “just the beginning.”
“Not only are there more clubs than ever, but students are very enthusiastic about getting involved,” she commented. And she’s right: Just one week after the fair, the Drama Society, LCW Acapella Group, and Torah Learning Club (TLC) are already arranging their meetings for the next few weeks!
