Aaron Lippman
Lander College for Men
Aaron Lippman said he knew he wanted to be an actuary since he was a teenager. “I remember taking physics and not enjoying the engineering aspect of it, but enjoying the math part,” said Lippman. A reason behind his love of math? “It’s totally objective. It’s absolutely true.”
Lippman was hoping to land an interview for a summer internship. “I’ve done my research about the companies I’m interviewing with,” said Lippman. “I’ve also looked into the questions they might ask. A sample question they might ask is how would you figure out how many golf balls can fit into a 747.” Asked exactly how many golf balls could conceivably fit in a 747, Lippman laughed. “I don’t know the exact number, but I can work it out and I’m prepared to go through the process.” Lippman was particularly excited about the chances to network with an actuary at the Mercer table who is an LCM alumnus. Another thing that helped Lippman were practice interviews. “I know my faults as well as my strengths,” he said.
Lippman said a tip he keeps in mind when interviewing is that his interviewers were on the other side of the table at one point. “They know what you’re going through.”
