Lander College For Women /The Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School is located at 227 West 60th street between Amsterdam Avenue and West End Avenue, on the Upper West Side, in the heart of the cultural mecca called Manhattan. We are within walking distance of Lincoln Center and the Hayden Planetarium and the Museum of Natural History. We are a short subway ride from the Metropolitan Museum. Our students can get to the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center Memorial with ease. The college has access to lower priced tickets for many of these venues, which helps make them affordable for our students.
Our campus is wi-fi-enabled with state-of-the-art science labs and computer labs. There is an IT tech on call during class hours and in the evenings. Our library has more than 30 computers dedicated to research with accessibility to more than 100,000 periodicals in the data base. The library has audio-visual equipment and a microfilm machine and printer to access older materials. We also have computers dedicated to class instruction, allowing for a multi-media approach. Students may use their computers in the classroom.
Many students are involved in a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs that take place on campus. For example, we offer a weekly shiur in parshat hashavua, special speakers on a variety of issues, drama club, psychology club and a business club. Students publications include a student newspaper and a Judaic Studies journal, as well as a business department newsletter. We have a full gym with a personal trainer available to our students from 8:30 AM to 10:00PM. A variety of physical education classes such as yoga, pilates, dance, and martial arts are offered each semester.
We offer food for purchase in our cafeteria. Fruit, salads, snacks, soups, sandwiches and a variety of both hot and cold drinks are available. Students can study or relax in our library, student lounge or terrace on the third floor of our building. Students may choose to live in our residences or commute to the college. Our residences are located on West 65th street and West 85th street within an easy walking distance of the college. There is a security guard at the entrance of each building and students must present ID to enter. Visitors must present photo ID and be announced to whomever they are visiting. There is a shuttle between the residences and the college, in the evenings from 6-11pm, and service to Seasons Kosher Supermarket on Thursday evenings.
