Chana Shaffer Minkowitz is the Assistant Dean of Lander College for Women - The Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School. Ms. Shaffer brings to this position a high level of integrated skills including experience in administrative adult education and college teaching.
Ms. Shaffer holds a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in political science from Touro College, Lander College for Women. While a student, she founded the Touro Debate Team and Political Science Society. She received her Juris Doctorate from Cardozo Law School, where she concentrated on International Law and Constitutional Law.
Ms. Shaffer has worked extensively in social services, serving as Associate Director of Public Relations at the Jewish Children’s Museum, Director of Special Programming at the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute, and as Director of The Tikvah Fund’s Institute for Women.
After working at a Manhattan class action law firm, Ms. Shaffer turned her career toward academia, first as an adjunct professor at Touro College and John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she taught courses in American Government, American Law, Political Communications, Constitutional Law, and Jurisprudence, and now as Assistant Dean.
As Assistant Dean, Ms. Shaffer has combined her passion for promoting adult education and working one-on-one with students to help build their futures and guide them through the academic process as she maintains responsibility for the administration of student services and daily functions of the College.
